Snow Day 2011

1st Day of Pre-K

Wow. It's been forever since I posted...I'm almost as bad as Kerri :). Needless to say, this new school year has been hectic. But since we've been home for 5 days now, thanks to the flu, I finally have time to post. This is the one and only picture I got of the girls' first day of school before the camera died. Notice how dark the sky is. It's because we have to leave before the crack of dawn. The sky is the same color when we get home most nights, too. But everyone seems to like school. The girls enjoy their friends, but don't know their names. They also think their teacher lives at school (which may not be too far from the truth).

Bigger Girl Room

If you have never seen the girls' room, then this will thoroughly unimpress you. However, if you have seen it, then this will mean something to you . I got some new things for the girls' room, and rearranged to make it "new." We replaced the broken blinds, and moved their beds in front of the window. I was going to paint the walls yellow, but decided against it. The most exciting part is the cross stitch on the wall. My mother in law spent FOREVER making it, and I have never been happy with where I put it. But I think it fits perfectly in here.

Made this today. Took about 1 minute to make. They played for 30 minutes. Totally worth it.

Best Homemade Summer Toy EVER

1. Cut bottom off of plastic drink bottle
2. Rubberband damp washcloth to bottom
3. Dip into undiluted dish soap
4. Blow

Jarrid came home early today, so I got to sew. Yay! I took a pillowcase that I bought at Goodwill in Levelland, and used this bubble dress tutorial.

Dresses

Kerri embroidered some fabric for me, so I made a couple more pillowcase dresses. Check out the piping...no glue used!

New Mexico

We went camping with my parents in New Mexico. The girls loved it. This is a few shots of our campsite, lunch in Angelfire, plus the girls swimming in Taos.

Last Day of Big Trip

I never got around to posting pictures of some of the things Kerri and I crafted. And by Kerri and I, I mean mostly Kerri. She is freakishly speedy when it comes to a sewing machine. Anyway, I wasn't able to get good pictures of the pillowcase dresses and bloomers, but here's what I did get.

Day 3

We graduated into "big girl" carseats...it made the trip SO much better!

And had our first slumber party! Emma wanted me to leave and come back for her...how sad.

We stopped by my aunt's house on the way to see Kerri. Here are a couple of pics from Day 1.

Conversation between Emma and myself this morning while fixing her hair:

"We don't touch the dirty corn. It will hurt you!"
"Dirty corn? Where did you see dirty corn, Emma?"
"On Jesus' head."
".........................?????????????
Oh, you mean the crown of thorns?"
"Yeah. The dirty corn."

They also think that Jesus threw rocks at Stephen. Makes me wonder what their vision of Christ is.
